Losing hope, feeling despair, feeling down, feeling that life is not worth going on with?
Do you have thoughts that you might be a failure or nobody likes you?
Tell someone you trust, for example a friend, a family member or your doctor, how you are feeling and if possible stay with someone until the feelings pass. Tell yourself the good things you’ve done today. If it’s difficult to say, write it down.
Don’t rule out seeing a specialist – a counsellor, nurse, psychiatrist or mental health worker may be able to help. Medicines might also help. Be sure you know how long they take to have an effect
Using drugs and alcohol won’t help in the long term; they can make you feel worse. Don’t take risks; you will not make the best decisions right now. Don’t listen to sad music; it may make you feel worse.
Don’t expect to feel okay all at once; feeling better may come in stages. Talk it over with your GP.
