About

This service has been created to provide as an alternative way for the residents of North Lincolnshire to access NHS mental health services using the internet. It works in the same way as an in-person appointment: with the same levels of confidentiality, checks and balances.

There are many reasons why an ‘e-clinic’ is advantageous. It might be that you have transportation problems getting to an in-person clinic or simply that you prefer to use this form of communication. There are also advantages for your clinician.

How it works

  • If you are making an appointment then initially we will make a face-to-face appointment with you to assess your needs and plan your treatments.
  • If we think you are suitable and if you express and interest in using the ‘eClinic’ then we will set-up a mutually convenient on-line appointment. We will also demonstrate how the system works. You can revert to telephone or ‘face-to-face’ appointments at any time.
  • When your appointment is due your clinician will log-in to this service and wait for you to do the same. You will need to fill-out a questionnaire every time you have an on-line appointment. This is normal and will help us monitor your progress, focus on difficulties and ensure effective treatment is being given.
  • When you are both connected you will be able to type messages directly to each other. At the end of the appointment you can simply close-down your computer or internet browser.
  • Your clinician will make a brief summary of the conversation for your medical records, as normal.
